Heatherwick Studio’s design for a new building for Google in Mountain View was revealed today.

Located at the gateway of the North Bayshore area along Highway 101, the Landings project builds upon the studio’s existing work under construction for Google in California and London.

The concept aims to complement and respond to the surroundings and specific conditions afforded by the site, resulting in a collection of repeated shed-like modules that gradually step upwards and over an inviting and sheltered central plaza. The space reflects the evolution of Google’s priorities for workspace experience and place-making at the human scale level.
