Maggie’s Yorkshire topped out at a ceremony in Leeds yesterday. Project Leader Rebeca Ramos spoke at the event, which marks a major milestone for the project ahead of the opening next year.

Linda Pollard, Chair of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I am very excited and it is just inspiring and the hospital staff and patients have watched it emerge from behind the hoardings with curious attention and now on the other side of the barriers is emerging this almost Doctor Who image.”

Located in the grounds of St James’s University Hospital, the new centre will offer free practical, emotional and social support for people affected by cancer. The new space will include a library, counselling rooms, and informal seating areas, surrounded by a garden visitors will be able to enjoy.
